Certainly, mobile phones have taken over the edge, and enterprises all across are using mobile phones to power their operations. With a mobile app equipped with even the most basic of employee self-service features, employees no longer need to ‘speak to HR’ – for basic, daily inquiries, at least – the answers are online and on-screen. Mobile solutions can make HR departments more efficient and give them more time to spend on strategic workforce planning rather than administrative work or expediting miscellaneous employee requests.

2. What is your way of handling tough situations or failures?

Failure is inevitable in life, we all acknowledge that failure is a reality of life & we understand that it actually helps us grow. At Spine, we encourage failure, embrace out-of-the-box thinking which fosters new ideas for the development of the products, strategies and also in a roadmap of the company’s business.

5. What are your experiences of highs and lows with Spine Technologies?

Business is like a roller coaster- full of ups and downs. The key to sustain is not staying long with either highs or lows. Enjoy the victory & come back to normal & being patient at the terrible times. We are happy to be recognized at a good position in the industry where initially we were considered as Software Company and now with the increasing demand in the HR Automation, we are considered as a reliable software solution provider.

6. If someone wants to create an HRMS software as a fresh entrepreneur, what would you suggest him?

Well, Creating HRMS software as fresh Entrepreneur is easy, what matters is the survival. He, who thrives to deliver what is being committed, can be survived. It is the customer support and never-ending improvisation and development which leads to a generic software platform. We personally have groomed ourselves with the said belief in the span of 16 years.

7. What is your strategy to balance professional and personal life?

It’s not at all easy. But I am a firm believer on a point that a professional life is always peaceful and successful when personal life is going smooth. Business runs 24 x 7 in my head while the fingers scroll through the emails on the phone anytime after office hours but I do manage to take time to relax, socialize every now and then & come up with the new perspective on taking the ideas ahead.

8. What is your take on the decisions made by ego?

“It makes an enemy out of me” – the decisions based on ego misfires very badly and are the worst mistakes to make and realize.

9. What is your take on the Intuitions? Do you make business decisions driven by intuition?

Thoughts without content are empty, intuitions without concepts are blind. The understanding can perceive nothing, the senses can think nothing. Only through their union can business drive.

HRMS portal / Customer Support.

Very Pathetic software to use and Support people are not at all understanding client needs. There are no detailed report for checking ease of attendance gaps. Anytime system bugs are coming up but Spine people never accepts it.

I recently purchased the services of Spine HR / Payroll and Expense module based on presentation given by the sales team. Sales team presented that SpineHR is very dynamic and any workflow / process can be customised into the system, any report can be generated if report not available they will help us in generating that type of report, attendance module is very flexible basically spinehr is completely flexible etc. We were also promised we will have dedicated person to help us through the entire implementation stage and assist us with any queries we may have. All fake promises by the sales team. 60+ days into the implementation and we are facing issues dealing with spinehr team. Looks like after payment received, they do not care. The person who is dedicated to assist is not available most of the time and himself is not conversant with the software, seems like a fresher. For any queries raised response from spinehr team is we will get back to you which unless we follow up, they will not respond. Basic logical workflow cannot be implemented as their software team do not accept your requirement (they ask us to change our process / policy to suit their software workflow). Their software is rigid and not flexible. When we started using the software for attendance for 4 to 5 days their services were down with no clarity or explanation as to why it is down or when will it start again. Spinehr members speak very rudely and arrogantly. Once you become their customer, is when they will start saying that things cannot be customised as per company’s need, company has to change their workflow / process as per software design. So far, I have been struggling a lot with spinehr team just to get them on support. They cannot complete basic validations tasks.

Extremely user friendly and efficient software

Introduced Spine Reimbursement Module to employees.

Prior to Reimbursement module, Accounts team were putting their manual efforts in terms of datastorage, filings, reportings, validations, unable to resolve employee grievances on time but post introduction of Riembursement module, expect validations, rest all steps has been eradicate. We are saving lots of time with this automation tool through which even employee is much happy to have clarity on their exemption amount for tax savings.

In HRMS, Attendance is the most critical part but through Spine, made it easy and reliable to track properly. About Payroll, Employer master and tds calculation output we are getting properly after long struggle.

Cons

Extracting reports needs to be improved a lot as it is an important element into software. Most of the reports are not in proper formats or it is not resolving the basic purpose of client i felt.

I have been using Spine for 3+ years and it goes well with all the payroll requirements. The updates are done on time. However the team skips informing the changes done in updates, yet they assist well on asking.

Meal Allowance & Increment CTC updation Setting

Engineers when queries are raised, should research & fix issues from all angles so that if one thing is sorted another thing should get affected. Taking automation process but still, we are ending up with manual calculations during payroll. Spine still needs to develop a lot.

Good thing about Spine that they are been communicating clients through their webinar launch & also monthly feedback survey which helps to fix the issues properly since Sept,2019.

Meal Allowance calculation is tough issue which we are facing since 3 months & every month something different calculations comes while processing. Secondly, about Incremented CTC updated, still employee gets old CTC paid though post updation it is been saved under bulk mode. It has been repeated twice.

Benefit such as Resignation module is working superb; Hassle free Exit formalities.

Cons

Timesheet module is not at all useful for us b'coz the mandatory fields for importing data is not flexible. Also, in Payroll nx, if an attrition data is updated for a particular month, that employee should not be part of next month payroll. Employee who's master created but payroll not processed - Unable to delete his master & use for next user. Small things but impacts are major to reconcile. Leave Module is not working properly while Auto fetching data into Payroll nx, it gives multiple scenarios For eg. - employee took 1 leave still his present days is 31 days whereas another employee taking 1 day leave & his present days shows as 30days. Unable to fix issues especially for attendance & income tax during payroll processing.
